Brenda Ketter is the founder, owner, and director of Dance Etcetera.  She has been involved in dancing and twirling since the age of 8.  She has spent many years performing and competing in local, state, and regional shows and competitions. Brenda was the majorette at Wayne High School and went onto coaching feature twirlers of Bethel High School, Stebbins High School, and Dayton Christian Schools.  She has been a certified coach with the United States Twirling Association since 1979 and is a USTA certified competitive judge.  Brenda has held the office of the President and Secretary of the Ohio Baton Council and is now the current Treasurer. Brenda had been teaching for over 25 years and is the creator of Twirl Magic competition baton twirling team and soloists.  Her twirlers have traveled to Florida, Georgia, Texas, Minnesota, and Iowa to compete in the National Baton Twirling Championships of USTA.  She has trained her students in dance twirl, solo twirling, two-baton, basic march, and military marching. She has also had 16 queens crowned in the Miss Twirl of Ohio Pageant and had instructed her pageant contestants in modeling, interviewing, and show twirl.  Brenda is the mother of three, working a full time job at InstantWhip, and is a new Grandma of a Future Dance Etcetera Member.

Dance Etcetera was established in the fall of 2003 and is operated and directed by Brenda Ketter. We are the home of “Dance Elite” dance teams and “Twirl Magic” baton teams. Many of our teams and soloists have won several awards at local, state, regional and even national events. We have had 16 winners crowned at the Miss Twirl of Ohio Pageant. Our students have the opportunity to attend classes from other professionals at conventions and workshops. We are dedicated to specializing in dance education, fun and friendship for all ages.

Stephanie Simmerman-Moore has been with Dance Etcetera since the studio open in August 2003.  She started dancing 25 years ago and twirling for 15 years. She was on the Twirl Magic Competition Team for 4 years and soloist, which is under the direction of Ms. Ketter.  She was also the Feature Twirler at Walter E. Stebbins High School and was Co-Captain of the Drill Team during High School.  She started teaching as a student teacher for Ms. Brenda and continued teaching after high school.  Miss Stephanie was an assistant coach of the Impression Dance Team in Beavercreek for 3 years and moved onto coaching the Dance Team and Color Guard at Stebbins High School for 3 years.  She has donated her time to help choreograph dances for several local cheerleading and dance teams.  She is a staff member with All American Cheer and Dance Pro Bowl Tour.  Stephanie is the Dance Competition Director here at Dance Etcetera.  She works a full time job at S&S Real Estate Managers and is getting ready to celebrate her 1 year wedding anniversary with her husband Paul.  

 

Blair Downey has been teaching at Dance Etcetera since August 2007.  She started her dancing career 20 years ago and loving every beat.  Her background is in jazz and lyrical, but has been trained in acro, ballet, belly dancing, hip hop, modern, and tap.  She has had the opportunity to work with Steven Boyd and Scott Benson.  She will be teaching various classes this year at the studio.  Blair is happily married to Eric and works part time at Bath N Body Works.

Becky Dider started dancing at the age of three with Brenda Ketter.  She has been involved in competitive baton and dance teams where they traveled to places like Florida, Texas, Iowa, and Arizona.  At these competitions Becky also participated in the solo division where she won numerous awards including Miss Twirl of Ohio in 1998 and 1999.  Throughout her dance career she has taken classes specializing in pointe, ballet, jazz, tap, and acrobats.  Outside of dance Becky is a full-time student at Wright State University and will be graduating in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in Marketing.  She is also an employee of Wright-Patt Credit Union.

Rich McKeever has been teaching for 15 years and choreographed his first hip hop movement routine at the age of twelve.  He went onto study dance at Findlay University, while obtaining a two year degree in Business.  He then returned to Dayton and received a two year degree in Dance from Sinclair Community College.  Rich was a member of the Sinclair Dance Team, where he choreographed several dance numbers.  He then went onto Wright State University to continue his study of dance in modern, ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap, and latin dance.  He has choreographed the dance number for the Sound of Music at Stebbins High School.  Rich will also be coaching the Hip Hop Competition Teams this season at the studio.  Rich works at Bob Evans, but truly enjoys dancing and teaching.

Maria Simon started dancing at the age of 2 1/2.  She has studied several types of dance, such as ballet, pointe, jazz, hip hop, and baton.  She was a member of the twirl Magic Baton Teams for ten years, a baton soloist, and was student teacher for three years.  Maria is currently a student at Sinclair Community College, as well as working at Wright Patt Credit Union.
